Global Project 2023: 👁️❤️

GLOBAL PROJECT 2023:  👁️❤️

Here at Norgard Designs we are all grateful to the team at The Beadworkers Guild for creating International Beading Week.  Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for facilitating this inspiring event and for helping support our efforts to produce global work that helps educate, soothe and inspire bead workers around the world.

I’d also like to thank my team: specifically, Lylian Castro, Carol Romano Geraghty, Prof. Maggie Horvath, Bonnie Lankard, Georgette Mayo, Andrea O’Brian Morrisey, Prof. Emeritus Deborah Mosch, Prof. Emeritus Dawn Peterson, Angel Romano, Anvi Shah, and Patti Zureick.  Always positive, energetic and supportive, this truly is the teamwork that makes the dreamwork.

And, of course, none of this would be possible without the scores of participating beadworkers who contribute their individual beaded components to the construction of the final artwork.

If you are familiar with our global project, you know “the drill”!  Sam came to understand that she had teaching to trade.  Instead of asking for money for learning she trades education for joining in the making of components which contribute to a large global work designed by Sam.  Sam’s vision is to not only teach bead technique through this process but to also engage the participants in design education and in creativity.

This is our fourth annual global: “Eye Heart”.  Once again, we have created lessons to take you through the process of embroidery where you learn how to construct an eye cabochon festooned not only with beads but also thread embroidery.  To enhance your learning, Georgette Mayo has created a series of lectures that will expand your beady knowledge.

Our plans for “Eye Heart” are to work with Prof. Sabrina Gardner, seamstress extraordinaire, who will help Sam with the construction of an “art garment”.  As of Summer 2024 we have not collected enough components to make this dream come true so please continue to send in your creations!
